An HPT Quick Reference Guide

by

Small and large businesses alike are finding it increasingly difficult to be successful in today's tough competitive and more global business climate.  This is not news to anyone.  People are the best asset an organization has for being productive and successful.  However, the more complex the business environment is, the more opportunity for situations to occur where people are not necessarily performing their jobs to their greatest potential for accomplishment.  Human Performance Technology is a discipline that has come into being over about the past 3 decades that is focused on this concern.

There are numerous solutions or "interventions" to performance problems.  This guide will provide some insight and reference to the HPT process itself and for a couple of prominent interventions that involve instruction or training and a couple that are non-instructional in nature.  These are by no means the entire scope of possibilities that HPT has to offer.  This guide is intended only as a brief overview and starting point for the reader to develop an understanding of HPT and the scope of possibilities it offers.  Finally, you can get a glimpse of the direction that HPT seems to be going.
